A full day of ice and Sámi culture
Join us from Gällivare for a full-day trip to Jukkasjärvi, where we combine two of the most unique experiences in Swedish Lapland – the world-famous ICEHOTEL and Nutti Sámi Siida.
We leave Gällivare in the morning and head north towards Jukkasjärvi. The drive takes around 1.5 hours, taking us through the beautiful Arctic landscape of forests, lakes and open wilderness. The journey is very much part of the experience, and we are happy to share stories and knowledge about the places we pass along the way.
Our first stop of the day is ICEHOTEL.
We spend around two hours exploring the hotel and its incredible rooms and art created from snow and ice. ICEHOTEL is rebuilt and renewed every winter, with artists from around the world creating unique rooms and ice sculptures. During your visit, you can also learn about the history of ICEHOTEL on the guided tour and how the natural ice from the Torne River has become the foundation of one of Sweden’s most iconic attractions.
After exploring ICEHOTEL, it is time for lunch. We enjoy lunch together at the ICEHOTEL restaurant, and lunch is included in the price of the tour. It is a chance to sit down, enjoy a good meal and take a break before continuing with the afternoon’s experience.
After lunch, we head to Nutti Sámi Siida, where we spend around two hours getting to know more about Sámi culture and life in Sápmi.
Here you can learn about Sámi traditions, history and the close relationship between people, nature and reindeer. It is a wonderful contrast to ICEHOTEL – moving from ice and contemporary art to a culture and way of life deeply rooted in the Arctic landscape.
After the visit to Nutti Sámi Siida, we begin our journey back to Gällivare. The drive takes around 1.5 hours this time aswell, giving us plenty of time to relax and take in the changing landscape along the way.
This is a day for those who want to experience some of the highlights of Swedish Lapland without having to worry about driving, parking or planning the logistics themselves.
You get to experience the ice, art and history of ICEHOTEL, enjoy a lunch included in the tour, and then discover Sámi culture and traditions at Nutti Sámi Siida – all in one relaxed day from Gällivare.
